Modern smart vehicles face a tough challenge. The most advanced AI features like predicting failures, suggesting the best driving paths, or providing conversational help usually rely on cloud computing. But this causes delays that are too long for quick, split-second decisions drivers need to make.

This slow system, combined with the fact that users unaware of what's happening behind the scenes, not only affects how well the car performs but also destroys user trust.

Our goal was to solve these problems by creating a transparent interface that speeds up real-time decisions and keeps complete control and privacy of the data with the user.

Research

Process

Process

Phase 1: Research

Users universally distrusted cloud-based AI for private data

Control over the data footprint was non-negotiable.

Control over the data footprint was non-negotiable.

Phase 2: Comparison

Existing systems are slow, fails to prioritize real-time data and decision making, often adding cognitive load.

The most significant delay was in driver's visual scan time and cognitive effort required to interpret real-time dashboards.

Phase 3: User needs

The interface must clearly articulate why it is making a recommendation (AI Confidence Score) and what data it is using.

Users must be have control over the AI model, including its training and data consumption, ensuring a sense of ownership, not surveillance.

Solution

Solution

Edge AI Settings

Allow users to toggle features like Local AI Training through a dedicated privacy screen.

This directly addresses the core privacy fear identified in user research, translating the technical architecture into a tangible, trust-building user control.

Real-Time Dashboards

Designed a specialized dashboard for visualizing time-series data, AI Confidence Scores, and a simplified, color-coded status system.

Real-time visualization tools for interpretation of AI outputs, we reduced the cognitive load and visual scan time drivers needed to process information.

Ecosystem Flow

Design an explicit Separation of Data Streams to distinguish between Sensitive, Locally Trained Data (conversational history, specific routes, preferences) and Generalized, Cloud-Updated Data (new map data, software versions)

We established three Human-AI Interaction (HAII) principles: Transparency , Control, Efficiency

Phase Evaluation

The WING Intelligence Platform successfully solves the AI mobility dilemma. It proves that the future of intelligent mobility is not a trade-off: zero-latency performance and absolute data sovereignty are now non-negotiable standards.

Next Step

Future phases focus on refining the Ecosystem Flow by integrating the WING AI framework into the Watch App for zero-latency, mission-critical alerts
